Taxes and insurance on the home

I don’t understand signing the home over to the state. Estate recovery against a house to recoup money the state spent on a person under Medicaid is only permitted until after the death of the Medicaid recipient. Do you mean they placed a lien against the house?

Assuming your mom still owns the house but is in the nursing home, renting the house to generate sufficient income to pay the taxes, insurance, and upkeep is a good idea. I suggest you check with the Georgia Medicaid bureau to see exactly how they want you to go about this, what expenses can be deducted or not, etc.
